Where the desert meets the Red Sea, the impossible becomes design.
In the tropical paradise of Amaala at Triple Bay, an untouched oasis at the heart of the Red Sea, the next luxury wellness destination is taking shape: a haven that blends refined hospitality, wellbeing, and sustainability. This is the new Four Seasons Resort and Residences Amaala – Triple Bay.
Designed by the architects of U+A, the project envisions a resort composed of 220 suites, private pool villas, and 26 residential villas spread across 4,155 sqm, all overlooking the breathtaking Hijaz Cove. Each space is conceived as a jewel of contemporary hospitality.
It is an undeniably ambitious project, just as ambitious as the window the client commissioned us to create: lift-and-slide wooden windows exceeding 4 meters in height.
At the core of the design concept lies a clear vision: to make guests feel like an integral part of the natural oasis surrounding them. To bring this idea to life, the resort’s rooms and villas were designed to incorporate windows with ultra-slim profiles and expansive glazed surfaces.
Exceptional windows for an exceptional project
A non-standard window requires non-standard components.
Therefore, we developed custom hardware solutions capable of accommodating the loads and stresses dictated by the project and by the site’s environmental conditions:
- wooden, vertical-shaped uprights to house structural steel reinforcements, bonded using high-performance structural adhesives;
- custom, fin-shaped metal profiles integrated into the upper beam to prevent the sash from disengaging from the track under high loads;
- a 6 mm stainless-steel track, installed directly on the finished flooring, a choice dictated both by local construction practices and by the need for marine-grade resistance to salinity and extreme weather.
The resulting system achieves a controlled deflection of no more than 9 mm and an exceptionally low operating force of 6-8 kg ensuring smooth, safe, and intuitive operation for any user. Before reaching Amaala, the windows underwent a comprehensive series of stress tests to simulate the pressures and environmental stresses the systems will face daily. Only after meeting every technical requirement were the window systems certified to withstand the climate of Saudi Arabia.
The lift-and-slide windows designed for the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Amaala – Triple Bay are far more than functional architectural elements: they are an integral part of the guest experience. They transform architecture into a seamless dialogue between engineering precision and aesthetic sensitivity.
